Turkish Airlines is the official airline partner of Warner Bros Pictures’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Opening on March 25, 2016 in select cities worldwide, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will have the two iconic superheros fighting for justice. As the official airline for the movie, Turkish Airlines released a special edit of the trailer on January 25, 2016 on its flights worldwide.
“We are very happy to become official sponsor for one of the most important movies of this year. I believe this deal will make a positive contribution to the Turkish Airlines brand,” said company chairman İlker Aycı at a joint press meeting on Jan. 25.
The national carrier of Turkey is using one of its Boeing 777-300ERs (ID: TC-JJN) livery to promote the movie. The aircraft has been flying between Istanbul (IST) <> Miami (MIA) and Mumbai (BOM) during the week of January 31 to February 6, 2016. “The image of the Turkish Airlines airplane will be shown in the movie with our logo. What is more, one of the biggest knots of the movie will be untied in flight on our Business Class,” Aycı added.
Super Bowl 50
Ahead of Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016, the Istanbul based airline premiered two new marketing spots promoting two new destinations: Gotham City and Metropolis! These will be shown during the game itself.
Turkish Airlines is known for using bold marketing with sports figures (Insight – August 11, 2015). While many airlines such as All Nippon Airways formed partnerships with movie franchises to build awareness (News – September 12, 2015), this is the first time in recent history while the movie locations are cleverly integrated in the passenger experience.
The airline has sponsored the movies premieres in both Los Angeles and London. It will launch a contest shortly with the grand prize winner being flown to the Los Angeles premiere as guests of Turkey’s national carrier.
In addition, travel kits, menu cards and customer cards with movie tie ins will be issued on board its business class cabin for a limited time.
